Gran Mezquita de Djenne, Mali. Una ciudad entera construida de barro y paja, en mitad del desierto, e inundada cada año por las lluvias tropicales. Esta mezquita da cabida a miles de fieles, y se podía visitar hasta que hace unos años un reportaje fotográfico con top models en su interior disgusto a los dirigentes religiosos. Ahora sólo pueden entrar musulmanes y nosotros tenemos que admirarla desde fuera. Patrimonio de la Humanidad desde 1988.

Great Djenne's mosque, Mali. A city completely built out of mud and straws, in the middle of the dessert, which floods every year with the seasonal rains. It was visited untill a few years ago when a magazine article with top models on it seriously bothered the religious leaders. Nowadays only muslims are allowed to enter and we must admire from the outside. Unesco's Heritage of Mankind site since 1988. |
