En el siglo XV el puente no estaba, pero la torre defensiva si. Por aqui pasaban las carabelas portuguesas que colonizaron la costa africana, Indonesia, Filipinas y todo el oceano Indico. No puedo dejar de pensar en la cantidad de olas perfectas que tuvieron que descubrir cientos de años antes de que el surf llegase a esas costas... Torre de Belem, desembocadura del Tajo, Lisboa, Portugal.

In the XV century the defensive tower was already there, but not the bridge. By this place went the portuguese caravelas which colonized the African coast, Indonesia, Philippines and the whole Indian Ocean. I can't stop thinking about how many perfect waves they must have discovered centuries before surfing arrived to that part of the world... Belem Tower, Tagus river estuary, Lisbon, Portugal. |
